Starting the journey towards a doctoral degree

Written by ESR5, Mulatu Nanusha

I started my PhD project work few months ago in an international and attractive working environment at Helmholtz center for environmental research (UFZ), Leipzig – Germany. For students, like me, UFZ is a recommendable and motivating place to work and enjoy study life. An international as well as green environment in addition to a fear living cost makes the city, Leipzig, to be an attractive and preferable.

My study is going smoothly. As winter is a reasonable time for water sampling to examine the chemical fingerprints of plant origin, so far I collected water samples from different location in Germany.  I started investigating the samples hoping to reveal findings as soon as I am done.
